Elephant Sessions

p02z9pqmWe had a real treat last night, thanks to this five-piece band from Inverness, who were making their first appearance at the Old Laundry Theatre in Bowness.

The group is unusual because they play Scottish fiddle and mandolin music against a thumping rock bass’n’drums backdrop. They’re also very, very good. The result is surprising, loud, joyful, and utterly mesmerising. There was hardly a still pair of hands or a non-tapping foot in the house, and by the time the last three or four tracks came along, a good fifth of the audience were up on their feet and literally dancing.

It was a lovely way to spend a couple of hours in the evening, and to forget about the election and the endless dreary trudge of politics that’s been dominating the news for weeks. Thank heavens for Elephant Sessions. We hope you come back soon!
