Too many spiders, not enough words

I’m sure all writers get days they’d rather forget. Today was one of them for me. I managed to add a whole 186 words to my current book, some of which are so useless I suspect they’ll have to be changed again.

Much of the rest of the day was spent vacuuming dead spiders and various other bits of detritus off an old bookshelf we’d had stored in the garage. I was hoping to clean this up, chalk-paint it and re-use it around the house, but I’m having second thoughts. Not only is it filthy, but the garage is horribly damp and that damp has got into the wood and warped some of the shelves. Dave has suggested leaving it in the warmth to unbuckle itself which might be worth a go. We’re desperate (always) for more places to store our ever-expanding collection of books… If this doesn’t work it’ll mean buying something new.

In the meantime, I’m tempted to have my main character tackle some spiders in the book…
